      Current

Numerous medical articles on a variety of topics - for professionals and lay audience - are on the internet. Home page for all articles is www.lakesidepress.com.

      Previous

Before the advent of the world wide web several educational computer programs were authored in DOS format, including the following:

      • Martin L. and Jeffreys B: Program for recording, reporting and interpreting arterial blood gases. Program written in BASIC Language using IL 813 Blood Gas Analyzer, 814 Interface and DEC MINC computer, 1979. (Work presented at SCAMC conference and published in Respiratory Care - see above).
      • Martin L and Jeffreys B: PFDx - A microcomputer program to aid in diagnosing the cause of pleural effusion.
      • Martin L and Jeffreys B. Respiratory Failure Tutorial. Adopts multiple choice question format to teach physiology and management of respiratory failure.
      • Martin L and Jeffreys B. Cardiopulmonary Dictionary. Text explanations of over 45 cardiopulmonary terms; available from an alphabetized menu.
      • Martin L and Jeffreys B. Cardiopulmonary Profile. Prints out hemodynamic variables with calculations for placement in the patient's medical record.
      • Martin L and Jeffreys B. Blood gas interpretation. This program allows user to enter all blood gas variables, plus patient's electrolytes and respiratory rate. Limited interpretation is provided.
      • Jeffreys B. and Martin L. Bibliographic Retrieval - A communication program that works through BRS/Saunders' data base; our program provides several unique functions, such as automatic connection, password protection, and clock display of time used for searching.
      • Jeffreys B. and Martin L. Simulation of the oxygen cascade using an IBM microcomputer. Allows user to enter any of 10 variables and observe effects on other variables in the oxygen cascade.
